There is an interesting looking show coming up at Carver Hill opening this Friday. The show is entitled Equilibrium: Finding the Balance by Jon Kolkin – it looks well worthwhile and I look forward to seeing the prints in person. You can find out more here in the press release as well.
Here is another of my favorite images from this summer – this one is from nearby Megunticook Lake right around sunset. It is a little depressing that it is already August and that means that the Maine summer is already in the home stretch…but luckily I love fall up here even more than summer.
Now that VoxPhotographs has officially posted more details about my upcoming show with Stacey Cramp, I can show all the work that will be hanging in the show. All of these shots were taken between September (in Colorado) until last month here in lovely Maine. You can see all five of these new images in my VoxPhotographs gallery (and you may have seen a few of these previously), but I’ll include them right here because I’m very excited about this group. Hope you enjoy them!
I have a two-person show with the wonderful Stacey Cramp upcoming at VoxPhotographs in Portland on Thursday, July 15th, from 5-7 pm. For those of you who haven’t been to the VoxPhotographs gallery, it is a private gallery and is thus invitation only – if you’d like to come just contact Heather Frederick and you will officially be invited, or just let me know and I’ll set it up.
Heather and I made the final selections for the show today and I’m excited about the new work. One of my favorites is included below. I can’t wait to see what Stacey has as well. As you may have guessed from the title she shoots in the square format as well. Hope to see everyone there!
Well, make that two shows upcoming from my perspective. Two shows that I’m currently in, the Pixels show in Lewiston’s Gallery 5 and the Aarhus Gallery show in Belfast, are coming down this weekend. Luckily, two new shows are starting to replace those. First, I’ve been selected for the Maine Photography Show 2010 in Boothbay Harbor. The opening for this show is April 16th and the show runs from April 17th to May 3rd. Based on previous years, the show (and opening) will certainly be well attended and will have a great selection of work from Maine photographers working in all genres. My image selected for this show is The Tarn:
I’ve also had two pieces selected for the next Gallery 5 show entitled ‘Scapes’. Here is a brief newspaper article about the show and I’ll update the blog once online versions of the selected work are available. Scapes runs from April 2nd through May 8th. My two images selected for this show are Moon at Sunrise, Utah and September Snow, Colorado.
This should be a great show as well and I’m looking forward to seeing other landscape work (and anything else considered a ‘scape). Here is a copy of the flyer, too:
Update: We went to the opening of the Scapes show and their was some excellent work there. I particularly liked a beautiful abstract landscape by William Pearce Cox as well as a stunning, moody landscape by Steven Langerman.
