Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England.
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
Critical Mass is one of the best calls to enter (in my opinion) as photo professionals take it very seriously. The deadline for the 2017 version is coming up soon on August 4th.
The Garrison Art Center is having their annual Photocentric Exhibition, with entries due August 8th.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has two upcoming calls… “Portraiture” due August 9th and “Photo Shoot: 2017” due September 8th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
Don’t Take Pictures (the online magazine) has their next free call, entitled “Flora”, with entries due August 20th.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “iPhone Imagery” due August 21st and another entitled “Infrared: The Invisible Made Visible” due September 18th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
The Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, CO, has their next call open, a members exhibition juried by Brian Paul Clamp, with entries due August 30th.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry (jurored by Joyce Tenneson) called “The Intimate Portrait” and due September 1st.
The Griffin Museum will be managing the John Chervinsky Emerging Photographer Scholarship, with entries due September 5th, 2017.
Maine Media is managing the Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture, with submissions due by September 15th. This award now includes a $20,000 prize.
The Still Point Art Gallery now has free submissions for its calls after moving to on-line only shows. You can see their calls here, starting with The Art of Structure due October 1st.
The excellent Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY has a whole list of calls for the year up, with entries due ranging from very soon until October 24th.
