I’m back from my Iceland residency now, and much more on this very soon. Today it is time, though, for my monthly summary of upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for August 2018. This tends to be a pretty quiet time of year.
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
The Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, CO has their next call posted, entitled “Abstract”, with submissions due August 5th.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry entitled “The Altered World” due August 5th and another entitled “The Contemporary Portrait” due September 2nd.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has three upcoming calls… “Photo Shoot: 2018” due August 9th, “Poetics of Light” due September 6th, and “Portrait:Photography” due October 11th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “Open Call 2018” due August 13th and a second entitled “Travel: Places and Faces” due September 10th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
The SoHo Photo Gallery has their next call up, entitled the “2018 Alternative Processes Competition”, with entries due August 27th.
Lensculture Magazine is teaming up with Aperture to run their annual Emerging Talent Awards, with entries due September 5th. A free submission review is also part of the package for all entries, a nice little perk.
The Center for Photographic Art in Carmel, CA has their 2018 International Juried Exhibition up, with submissions due September 23rd. I will note that this one is more expensive than the typical submission.
The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “Summer”, and submissions are due September 23rd.
