It is time for my monthly summary of upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for August 2019. This is a quiet time of year, but there are still some good ones out there.

This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.

Good luck!

The Southeast Center for Photography has their next calls posted, with “Flora” due August 4th and “Forgotten” due September 8th.

The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has two upcoming calls… “WHAT: Cars and Dogs” due August 9th and “Photo Shoot 2019” due September 10th.  This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.

Lensculture Magazine has their next call up, this one being their annual Emerging Photographers contest. Entries are due August 14th. Lensculture does give a free short review of each submission, a nice perk.

The Center for Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, CO, has their next call up, which is entitled “Self and Family” and due August 18th.

The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “The Contemporary Landscape” that is due August 19th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.

The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “Secondary Colors” and due August 25th.

The Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY, has a long line-up of upcoming calls for entries, ranging from group exhibitions to photobook competitions, and I encourage you to take a look at their many options. Next up is an open call due August 29th.
