Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for January 2018. If one of your resolutions is to submit your work to more places, here are some opportunities…
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
The Spiva Center for the Arts has their annual PhotoSpiva competition going now, with entries due January 1st, 2018.
The Still Point Art Gallery now has free submissions for its calls after moving to on-line only shows. You can see their calls here, starting with Global Citizens: Portraits due January 2nd, 2018.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry entitled “Iphoneagraphy” due January 7th, 2018.
The Soho Photo Gallery has their annual International Portfolio Competition coming up, with entries due January 8th, 2018, and that is the due date for their annual Krappy Camera Competition as well. Their 14th Annual National Alternative Process Competition has entries due January 14th, 2018.
The Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, Colorado has one upcoming call: “Landscapes 2018” due January 10th.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has two upcoming calls…”Black and White: 2018″ due January 10th, 2018 and “Portraits: Image and Identity” due February 7th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “One” (jurored by Aline Smithson) due January 14th, 2018.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “Myths, Legends, and Dreams” due January 15th, 2018 and another entitled “Capturing the Light” due February 12th, 2018. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
Acadia National Park is accepting applications until January 15th, 2018 for its artist-in-residence program. Highly recommended as an alum of this program.
The Perspective Gallery has their Lens 2018 annual juried exhibition up, jurored by Paula Tognarelli of the Griffin and with entries due January 15th, 2018.
The annual and always-popular Maine Photography Show is now accepting entries, with final entries due January 26th, 2018.
The 11th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for women photographers are open now with entries due by February 29th, 2018.
The Maine Farmland Trust is accepting applications for their own artist residency programs, with applications due March 1st, 2018.
The CMCA in Rockland, ME will soon be accepting entries for the next Biennial for all of you out there with Maine connections…entries will be accepted from January 1st to April 2nd, 2018.
