Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for November.
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry entitled “The Abstract Image” due November 5th and another entitled “Shades of Black and White” due December 3rd.
The newly configured Panopticon Gallery in Boston has their First Look 2017 call for entries up, with submissions due by November 8th.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has one upcoming call…”Color: Photography Now” due November 9th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “Patterns and Shadows 2017”, with entries due November 12th, and the next (entitled “One” and jurored by Aline Smithson) due January 14th, 2018.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “The State of America” due November 13th and another entitled “The Decisive Moment” due December 11th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
The Print Center has their 92nd Annual International Competition coming up, with entries due November 14th.
The deadline has been extended for the 2018 Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture with a $20,000 grand prize, with entries now due November 17th.
The Spiva Center for the Arts has their annual PhotoSpiva competition going now, with entries due January 1st, 2018.
The Still Point Art Gallery now has free submissions for its calls after moving to on-line only shows. You can see their calls here, starting with Global Citizens: Portraits due January 2nd, 2018.
The Soho Photo Gallery has their annual International Portfolio Competition coming up, with entries due January 8th, 2018, and that is the due date for their annual Krappy Camera Competition as well. Their 14th Annual National Alternative Process Competition has entries due January 14th, 2018.
The annual and always-popular Maine Photography Show will soon be accepting entries (on December 1st), with final entries due January 26th, 2018.
The 11th Annual Julia Margaret Cameron Awards for women photographers are open now with entries due by February 29th, 2018.
The CMCA in Rockland, ME will soon be accepting entries for the next Biennial for all of you out there with Maine connections…entries will be accepted from January 1st to April 2nd, 2018.
