Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for October.
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
PhoPa Gallery in Portland, ME, is now accepting online submissions for exhibitions…find out more here (there is no particular deadline).
The Still Point Art Gallery now has free submissions for its calls after moving to on-line only shows. You can see their calls here, starting with The Art of Structure due October 1st.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry (jurored by Joyce Tenneson) called “The SE Center Open” due October 8th.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has one upcoming call…”Field Work: Shadow and Light” due October 10th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “Celebrating the Creative Process” due October 16th and another entitled “The State of America” due November 13th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
Lensculture, the big online magazine, has their annual Emerging Talent Awards up now, with entries due October 17th.
The excellent Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY has a whole list of calls for the year up, with entries due ranging from very soon until October 24th (which is the Photobook contest).
The newly configured Panopticon Gallery in Boston has their First Look 2017 call for entries up, with submissions due by November 8th.
The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “Patterns and Shadows 2017”, with entries due November 12th, and the next (entitled “One”) due January 14th, 2018.
The Soho Photo Gallery has their annual International Portfolio Competition coming up, with entries due January 8th, 2018.
