Wow – September is here! Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for September.
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
PhoPa Gallery in Portland, ME, is now accepting online submissions for exhibitions…find out more here (there is no particular deadline).
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry (jurored by Joyce Tenneson) called “The Intimate Portrait” due September 1st.
The Griffin Museum will be managing the John Chervinsky Emerging Photographer Scholarship, with entries due September 5th, 2017.
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has one upcoming calls…”Photo Shoot: 2017″ due September 8th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
Maine Media is managing the Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture, with submissions due by September 15th. This award now includes a $20,000 prize.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “Infrared: The Invisible Made Visible” due September 18th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
The Still Point Art Gallery now has free submissions for its calls after moving to on-line only shows. You can see their calls here, starting with The Art of Structure due October 1st.
The excellent Davis Orton Gallery in Hudson, NY has a whole list of calls for the year up, with entries due ranging from very soon until October 24th.
The newly configured Panopticon Gallery in Boston has their First Look 2017 call for entries up, with submissions due by November 8th.
The New York Center for Photographic Art has their next call up, entitled “Patterns and Shadows 2017”, with entries due November 22nd. (note: link might change)
