Every month I summarize some of the upcoming calls for entries for photographers, particularly those in Maine and New England, so please find below my list for June 2018. And sorry it is a few days late!
This list is certainly not exhaustive and usually reflects ones of particular interest to me, but hopefully it will be helpful to many of you as well.
Critical Mass, one of my favorite calls in terms of effectiveness, has early bird entries due June 5th (tomorrow!) and final entries due June 25th.
The popular Lenscratch website has their next free call for entry called “Good Manners”, with submissions due June 6th. This is the first juried one I’ve seen from them (though I may be forgetting some older ones).
The BlackBox Gallery in Portland, OR has two upcoming calls… “Camera Work: Landscape and Architecture” due June 7th and “Grayscale: A Picture Show” due July 11th. This gallery offers free printing and framing of selected work, keeping costs reasonable if you are selected.
The PhotoPlace Gallery in Vermont has a call for entry entitled “Environmental Portraits” due June 11th and another entitled “Still Life: Elevating the Mundane” due July 9th. They offer free framing in standard sizes, too, to help minimize costs if selected.
The Print Center in Philadelphia, PA has their 93rd Annual International Competition open now, with entries due June 12th. This is a very good one, and it seems very competitive as well.
The Maine Arts Commission has their annual call for grant applications open now, with applications due June 14th. So if you are a Maine artist looking for grant money…
The Center for Fine Art Photography in Ft. Collins, CO has their next call posted, entitled “Wonder”, with submissions due July 1st.
Lensculture Magazine is teaming up with Aperture to run their first LensCulture Art Photography Awards, with entries due July 3rd. A free submission review is also part of the package for all entries, a nice little perk.
Monson Arts (in Monson, Maine, a gorgeous and remote area) has opened up this year and is offering artist residencies in the fall, with applications due July 7th. I saw an early version of their facilities and I think it should be great.
The Southeast Center for Photography has a call for entry entitled “The Altered World” due August 5th.
