Harvard Show Installation Shots

Last week (during the earthquake even, not that we noticed), we hung my solo show at the Three Columns Gallery at Harvard University. The show is open now and I’ll be coming down for a reception on Sept. 16th, from 5-7 pm. The gallery space is really unusual and it is hard to describe – I took a few shots of the space once the images were hung…these should give an idea of what it looks like even though the lights weren’t on and such. The photos were quick snaps without tripod and such, but they should do the trick here.

As the name suggests, the gallery space is dominated by three cement columns that extend from the floor to the ceiling. They are flat and pieces are hung on both sides, one at the lower level and one on the second level. When people walk through either the first or second story (it is part of Mather House, so there is lots of foot traffic) or the stairs, you ultimately see all 19 pieces that are hung.

Let me know what you think!

How exquisite….and how appropriate to have a earthquake rock the east cost during this impressive event! CONGRATULATIONS from us both. We are so proud of you!! Ann & John

Congratulations Jim! I see what you mean about an odd space but from these shots – it looks like a beautiful show. An exhibition at Harvard! Seems like a tough act to follow but I’m sure you’re up for the challenge!

The exhibition looks awesome! I like the space as you photographed it. It appears that you are surrounded by the photos, and it seems like a great opportunity to see the breadth of your work. I wish we could see the exhibition, not to mention you, next month.

Thanks, Renata! The space does have a kind of enveloping feel, so I think it will work out well. I haven’t seen it yet in the evening, either, when the small spotlights come on, too (they apparently automatically turn on at 6 pm). Hopefully we’ll make a family visiting/photography trip out to Colorado soon!
